After making its foray into the sphere of higher and technical education, the ERD Foundation has now embarked on providing quality education at the primary and secondary levels so that our boys and girls can confidently qualify for admission in any top-class institution for professional courses. Moreover, with this kind of solid foundation, they would also become more confident to face competitive examinations such as the IAS, IPS, ACS etc. With this goal in mind, ERDF set up its first Central Public School, CPS Patharkandi in Karimganj District in April 2008. The second CBSE affiliated school of ERD Foundation - Central Public School, Badarpur has been set up in Umarpur, near Badarpur Town which was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri. R. S. Mooshahary, Governor of Meghalaya on 21st January 2010.

To promote an educational institute with state-of-the-art facilities, to provide quality education encompassing the needs of the rural and downtrodden children of different communities, with special attention to the development of minority communities and thereby producing required quality human resources for the development of the society.
Location
Badarpur, the Gateway to Barak valley as it lies close to the National Highway No. 44 that connects Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and the rest of the Barak Valley, has a rich history of being one of the busiest railway junctions even during the pre-independence era. Hindustan Paper Corporation’s Panchgram Paper Mill is situated in its vicinity. It is a business centre that caters to the entire Barak Valley and vast parts of the neighbouring states including Meghalaya. Moreover, Badarpur is also well connected by both railways and river transport. The School is being built at a spot that is serene and peaceful and therefore an ideal campus for academic pursuits for all students living in its hinterland.
The plot for the School has been provided by the family members of Late Ahasanur Reza Choudhury, who was a leading citizen and social worker of Badarpur. The School is designed to fulfil his dream of making Badarpur a centre of educational excellence and bringing prosperity to the people of the area. Accordingly, the School’s main building is being named A.R. Choudhury Academic Block.

Admission to CPS is open to all, irrespective of caste, creed or religion. The school is having a curriculum that is the same as that of all CBSE Schools across the country.
The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi vide affiliation code No. 230111.
CPS Badarpur has become operational from the academic session 2010-2011 and classes are going up to class XII. The medium of instruction at the school is English.
